Comparison · WebSmoothly, Wix and Squarespace

Looking for a Wix or Squarespace alternative?

Both are good products, and if you're happy in an editor neither of them is ripping you off. The real difference isn't quality — it's who does the work. On Wix and Squarespace you rent an excellent tool and build the site yourself. With us you describe your business and get a finished site back, for less than either subscription. Here's the honest version of which one you want.

Prices checked August 2026 and quoted at the annual rate. Paying monthly costs noticeably more on both Wix and Squarespace, and Squarespace raised prices across its lineup in mid-2026 — check the current rate at checkout before you commit.

Choose Wix or Squarespace if…

  • You want to sell things online. A real store — products, variants, a cart, shipping rules — is what these platforms do well and we don't do at all.
  • You enjoy building it. If picking a template and arranging sections sounds like a nice Sunday, you'll get more from a builder than from us, and you should use one.
  • You want to change things instantly, yourself. Log in, drag, publish. No waiting, no describing.
  • You're planning to grow the site. Ten pages, a blog you'll actually write, a members area later. Squarespace's blog in particular is genuinely good.
  • Design control matters to you. If you have opinions about spacing, you want your hands on it.

Choose WebSmoothly if…

  • You want it done, not to do it. The single real difference. You send a description; a working site comes back.
  • One good page is enough. Who you are, what you offer, prices, photos, hours, contact. That's what most small businesses actually need.
  • You want one bill, not four. $99 a year covers the domain, the hosting and the edits. Nothing renews at a different price in month thirteen.
  • You'd rather email than log in. New prices in the spring? Send a sentence. No dashboard, no remembering where the button was.

Where we're weaker

Two things, plainly. Small visual tweaks are slower than clicking: describing "shrink that gap a bit" sometimes takes a second go, where in Wix you'd just drag it. And we build one strong page, not a growing multi-page site — if you're going to need a store or a real blog within a year, starting with us means moving later. Neither is a dealbreaker for most of our customers, but both are real, and you should know before you choose.

The short version: Wix and Squarespace sell you a very good tool and the job of using it. We sell you the finished result and take the job away. If you like building websites, they're better and we'd honestly tell you so. If you've been meaning to sort out your website for two years and haven't, the tool was never the problem — the work was, and that's the part we do. Either way, it's worth knowing what a website really costs before you commit to a subscription, and what done-for-you actually means if the category is new to you.
