A website for your salon, when you already have a booking app
A salon website has one job: turn someone who just heard your name into a booked appointment. That takes services with prices, a Book button that goes straight to your booking app, photos of your work, and where to park. Your Booksy, Vagaro or Fresha profile handles the booking. Your own site is the address that's yours, with no other salons on the page.
I already have a Booksy page. Do I still need a website?
Not to take bookings — the app already does that, and does it well. Keep it. The question is what people land on when they search your name, and who owns that page.
A booking-app profile is a listing inside a marketplace. The marketplace exists to send clients to salons, and it shows them plenty of salons that aren't yours. Its address has the app's name in it, not yours. And if you switch apps next year, the profile stays behind. A website on your own .com is the one link that never changes: on your business card, your Instagram bio, your Google profile, the sign on the door. Behind its Book button sits whichever app you use this year.
Send us your Instagram and your booking link.
We'll build the site around them. Free to look at, $59 a year if you keep it.
Why your own Book button can save you money
Several booking apps charge you extra when a new client comes to you through their marketplace rather than through your own link. As of October 2026:
- Booksy Boost — no monthly fee to switch on, then a one-time 30% of a Boost client's first visit. Booksy's own pricing page suggests sharing your profile link with clients so you're not charged the commission while Boost is on.
- Vagaro Fill My Books — optional; Vagaro charges 20% on a qualifying new client's first booking through it and 5% for existing clients. Vagaro says the fees apply only to bookings Fill My Books brings in, not to every booking made through your website or booking link.
- Fresha — a one-time new-client fee on the first appointment (independent guides put it at 20%, with a minimum). Fresha's help center says it applies when a client first found you on the Fresha marketplace — even if they then booked through your website.
The pattern is the same everywhere: clients who come to you by your own name and your own link are cheaper than clients the marketplace finds for you. A website is where "your own name" lives. It won't stop the marketplace from charging for clients it genuinely found — nor should it — but it gives everyone who already knows you a direct way in.
What should be on a salon website?
Services with prices
"Women's cut from $65", "Fade $35", "Gel manicure $45, removal included". "From" prices are fine — what isn't fine is no prices at all, which is the number one question you otherwise answer by DM. Add how long each one takes, and what to expect at a first visit or a consultation.
One Book button, everywhere
At the top, after the prices, and at the bottom. All three go to your booking link. If each stylist has their own booking page, each gets their own button.
The team
A photo and two lines each: "Maria — color and balayage, 12 years". Clients book people, not chairs.
Your work
Eight to twelve of your best photos, not fifty. The full portfolio lives on Instagram; the site links to it.
Gift cards
If your booking app or Square sells digital gift cards, we add a "Buy a gift card" button to that page. Worth having before Mother's Day and the holidays. If you don't have one, a Stripe payment link works too; you then send the gift card yourself.
Hours, location, parking
A map, the address, and the details only you know: "suite 204, second floor", "free parking in the back lot", "ring the bell after 6". Plus your cancellation policy in plain words.
I don't have a booking app yet. Which one should I use?
We don't sell one and don't get paid by any of them, so here's the short, neutral version of what they cost as of October 2026. All of them give you a booking page you can link to from your site; all of them add card processing on top.
- Square Appointments
- Has a free plan for one location that includes an online booking site. Paid plans add features per location.
- GlossGenius
- From about $24 a month billed annually (Standard, up to two users), with higher tiers for bigger teams.
- Booksy
- From $29.99 a month for one person, plus about $20 for each additional staff member, according to independent price guides. Boost is optional and charged per new client, as above.
- Vagaro
- Around $30 a month for one bookable calendar (often discounted), plus about $10 per extra calendar, according to independent price guides. The marketplace listing itself is free.
- Fresha
- Has moved from its old free model to a paid subscription charged per team member; independent guides disagree on the exact figure, so check Fresha's pricing page.
If you're a solo stylist who just wants people to pick a time, you may not need any of them: Google Calendar's appointment schedule is free and we can put it on your site. See the guide to online booking on your website. If you have a team, deposits and no-show fees, a proper salon app is worth its fee.
Example: a three-chair barbershop on one page
An illustrative outline, not a real customer. Yours would follow your own shop.
- Top: "Northside Barbers — classic cuts and fades, walk-ins welcome before noon." Buttons: Book · Call.
- Prices: haircut $35, fade $38, beard trim $20, kids under 12 $25, with how long each takes.
- The barbers: three photos, three names, a line each, and each one's own booking link.
- The work: nine photos and "more on Instagram".
- Gift cards: one button, to the shop's existing gift card page.
- Visit: map, hours, "parking on the street is free after 6", the no-show policy.
Where we're weaker
We're not a booking system. The calendar, reminders, deposits and no-show fees stay in your app; we send people to it. Your gallery doesn't update itself either: new photos are an edit, and your plan has 30 a year — fine for refreshing the gallery every season, not for posting your work every week. That's what Instagram is for. And if the booking-app profile is already bringing you all the clients you can handle, a website is a nice-to-have, not an emergency.
Questions salon owners ask
- Can clients book right on my website?
- The Book button opens your booking app's page, where the client picks a service and a time. Some apps offer a booking widget that can sit on the page itself; if yours does, ask and we'll add it.
- What happens if I switch from Vagaro to Booksy?
- One edit: describe the change in plain words, in the WebSmoothly chat or from ChatGPT or Claude, check the preview, publish. Your address and everything you printed stays the same.
- How much does it cost and how long does it take?
- $59 a year for the .com in your name, hosting and 30 edits; the draft is free and you pay only to go live. A first version is ready in about ten minutes, and getting it really polished — prices, photos, the domain — usually takes about two hours of back-and-forth.
- Can I sell products online too?
- A few items through a payment link, yes. A real shop with stock, variants and shipping, no — use Shopify, and we'll link to it.
How we checked
Checked October 8, 2026. Booksy Boost's 30% and its advice to share your own profile link are from Booksy's US pricing page. Vagaro's Fill My Books fees are from Vagaro's own announcement. Fresha's new-client rules are from Fresha's help center; the 20% figure is from independent guides because Fresha's article points to its pricing page instead. Square Appointments' free plan is from Square's help center; GlossGenius pricing from its support documentation as reported by independent guides. Booksy and Vagaro subscription prices come from several independent price guides that broadly agree, and change with promotions — check at signup. If you spot something out of date, write to [email protected] and we'll fix the page.
Send us your Instagram, your booking link and your price list — a photo of it is fine. You'll see a working draft in about ten minutes, and looking costs nothing.
